Rhode Island has no shame in its proud roll as
the smallest state among the United States. However, that is not
the destiny they have in mind for their slot machine jackpots. Much
larger slot machine jackpots are indeed coming to the Ocean State.
New jackpots, possibly as great as $2 million, will be created once
the state combines its latest slot machines with Delaware and West
Virginia.
These new jackpot
figures will dwarf even the largest prizes currently available in
Rhode Island. The highest jackpot in the state sits at $700
thousand. Newport Grand and Lincoln Park, the states two slots
parlors, will carry the new mega-jackpot slot machines.
At 15 and 50,
Lincoln Park will carry more than twice as many new slot machines as
Newport Grand. Newport Grand still stands to make a huge profit
from the upgrade, because, as a Lincoln Park spokesperson pointed
out, higher jackpots attract more gamblers.
With the growth of
gaming revenue in slots parlors of neighboring Connecticut, there is
a concern that Rhode Island’s video slots parlors may have
difficulty expanding.
