| It
still surprises many people that full scale casinos are available
online. So it is of little surprise that the average person does
not know all the important facts about online casinos. The mention
of online casinos suggests, to many people, shadowy or complicated.
To put it frankly, a large number of people that do recognize online
casinos do not trust them.
There is fear in ignorance.
A special on the television program 60 Minutes has done its
part to educate the masses, thereby dispelling the fear: the fear
that online casinos are underhanded and illicit. The rather in
depth program studied how, in an environment of sketchy U.S.
legislative regulations, the online casino phenomenon has managed to
flourish.
The interview portion of the
report gave voice to very important and well known names in the
world of online casinos: Terry Lanni of MGM Mirage, Nigel Payne of
Sports Bet, and Steve Lipscomb of World Poker. Not only supporters
of online gaming spoke their part in the report. U.S Senator Jon
Kyl was also featured. He voiced his desire to have online gambling
outlawed in the United States. Twice, has Kyl supported attempts to
pass anti-online gambling legislation in the U.S. Senate.
Sound advice from Nigel
Payne of Sporting Bet’s closed the program. He advised authorities
in the United State to make sure only responsible and upstanding
companies operate in the online casino market by placing and
enforcing new regulations. In an effort to say, online gambling
isn’t going any where, Payne reminded viewers that gambling has been
around “since the dawn of time.” The only logical thing to do is to
attempt to control an industry that is going to grow inevitably.
