It is a dream. It is the
day dream that pushes all upstart poker players and the dream that
keeps seasoned players awake at night. As of today, the idea of a
rookie player entering the World Poker Tournament Championships and
walking away with $60,000 is a dream come true.
Player Curtis Hirsch entered
the World Poker Tournament Championship through his online casino of
choice, VIP Poker. The 22-year old newbie to the gambling world was
not very familiar with online casinos yet managed to rank 49th
in a contest of 605 contestants. For his efforts, Curtis went home
with $60,000 dollars in prize money and a trip to Las Vegas,
Nevada.
Hirsch is a college student
in Canada. The tournament was held at the end of April. Buy-in
options were limited for online gamblers and the entry fee was
rather pricey. Hirsch earned his seat at the championship table
through a combination of skill and an amassing of online casino
poker points. The all-expense-paid trip to Las Vegas was a gift to
Hirsch from his online casino. The steely focus he maintained
throughout the tournament earned him an amazingly high score.
Hirsch’s resulting reward was 60,000 extra dollars to make his
pockets a little warmer.
The manager of VIP Poker online casino was not only ecstatic about
the success of their representative in the World Poker Tournament
Championship, but he is quite proud of him. He feels that success
stories like that of Curtis Hirsch solidify that the online casinos
can truly compete with land-based casino poker. Hirsch is also a
depiction of the truth that the best of the best can hail from
anywhere in the poker hierarchy.
